GLASS EXPERT PASSES AWAY

WALTER E. EGGINTON, KNOWN MANUFACTURER HERE, DIES IN BLOOMFIELD, N. J.

Walter E. Egginton for over 50 years a resident of Corning, died at his home in Bloomfield, N. J., this morning, March 12, 1925, following several years of ill health. Mr. Egginton was born in Wallaston, England in 1855.

Prior to his removal to Bloomfield three years ago Mr. Egginton had resided in this city where he was very well known and was at one time president of the O. F. Egginton Company, which conducted a glass cutting shop at the corner of West Fifth and State streets on the site now occupied by John N. Illig. Prior to his presidency in that company he was connected with the T. G. Hawkes Company.

Mr. Egginton was one of the group of glass experts who caused Corning to be identified the world over as the "crystal" city. During the years that cut glass was "a craze" Mr. Egginton's factory was one of the most important in the city and turned out not only glass in quantities but glass that was of high quality and artistically designed.

Mr. Egginton was a member of St. Mary's Church. He was married to the late Susan Kreiger in Corning.

The deceased is survived by 10 children: Mrs. Thomas F. Deegan, of Corning, Miss Grace Egginton, San Francisco, Oliver Egginton, San Francisco, Mrs. Walter Hamilton, San Francisco, Mrs. L. J. Caspar, Bloomfield, Alfred Egginton, Bloomfield, Mrs. T. N. Wilkins, Miss Lucille Egginton and Enoch Egginton of New York, and George Egginton of Minneapolis.

The body was brought here at 5:05 o'clock this afternoon via the Lackawanna Railroad and was taken to the home of Mrs. John Markert of Walnut and Fourth streets. The funeral will be held Friday morning at an hour to be announced later. Burial will be made in St. Mary's cemetery.
