Genealogy of the Neil O'Connor Family in America

N. B.: The writer is greatly indebted to Walton J. Sullivan and Edmund J. Stegner who have provided most of the following genealogical information. (Mr. Stegner is one of John S. O'Connor's great grandchildren.) Individuals known to have been active in glasscutting are shown in bold type.

NEIL O'CONNOR* of Londonderry, Ireland m. Sarah _____ (b. Scotland). Emigrated to Greenock, Scotland; thence to St. John's, Canada, c1836; thence to New Orleans, LA where he established a jewelry business and raised a company of New Orleans Rangers to fight in the Mexican War (1846-8) under Gen. Winfield Scott; thence to NYC, c1848, where he continued in the jewelry trade. Neil O'Connor died in the late 1880s in NYC.
